Under the slogan, “There is no distinction in good and humanitarian work, we are all here for Afzal Smriti Parishad,” the voluntary organization Afzal Hossain Smriti Parishad has formed a new committee in Mymensingh.

On Sunday, June 8, 2025, a total of 85 members and 31 advisors gathered to announce the new committee. Mrs. Rashida Begum, wife of the late Afzal Hossain, was elected as the President, while his son, Md. Sakhawat Hossain Farhad, was appointed as the General Secretary.

The advisory board comprises: Advocate Didarul Islam Khan Raju, Advocate Habibur Rahman Masum, Abul Kalam Md. Abdus Samad, Associate Dr. Md. Mohit, Md. Kafil Uddin, Md. Belayet Hossain Mukul, Md. Mamun Ahmed, Md. Kausar Ahmed, and Md. Naeem (Assistant Surgeon).

Newly elected President Rashida Begum stated,
“In the name of my husband, I will give my utmost effort to advance this organization. I will focus on making our initiatives more effective and dynamic. I hope all committee members will extend their full support. I also aim to stand by the people of our ward and community in both happiness and hardship, and I seek everyone’s prayers and cooperation.”

General Secretary Sakhawat Hossain Farhad added,
“I will strive to fulfill the responsibility entrusted to me to the fullest. Our organization has embarked on a path to build a humane society. The primary goal is to support the helpless and underprivileged. We must act with humanity and serve those in need. Since its inception, the organization has carried out numerous initiatives in line with this mission.”

It is noteworthy that Afzal Hossain Smriti Parishad has been actively engaged in social service since 2010. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the organization distributed food, provided wheelchairs, supplied educational materials, and carried out various other humanitarian initiatives for the underprivileged.

With the formation of this new committee, it is expected that Afzal Hossain Smriti Parishad will continue to strengthen its social service efforts and play an even more active role in supporting the vulnerable in the community.
